NEPTUN Biography

You may have heard the factoid that 95% of Earth’s oceans have not been explored. You may have also watched that one scene in Finding Nemo, or seen a picture of a giant squid, and said “No thanks, Satan!” If you feel equal parts terrified and intrigued by the creatures lurking in the darkest depths of our oceans, this class is for you. Although much is unknown about the ecology of the deep sea, there have been great strides made in recent years to understand the surprisingly abundance of life found here. This class will cover the ecology, physiology and chemistry of extremophiles living in deep sea trenches.
